About BCMCS Choral

The Choral Section has been an integral part of BCMCS. since its formation in 1973. We have built up an excellent reputation in Bolton for our performances of many classic choral works.

These include Beethoven`s Missa solemnis, Elgar`s Dream of Gerontius, Handel`s Messiah and Verdi`s Requiem. The society has a great working relationship with other choirs, orchestras and musical ensembles, having performed with Bolton Symphony Orchestra, Corus Brass, Bolton Choral Union, and The Brixi Singers.

We perform one or two concerts each year usually at Bolton`s Victoria Hall or Bolton Parish Church.

The Musical Director for the choir is appointed on a yearly basis, and our present M.D. is Carolyn Baxendale, who is head of Bolton Music Service.

There are at present around 70 choral members.

Rehearsals are held on Friday evenings – 7.30p.m. – 10.00p.m. at Bolton Parish Church hall.

We welcome new singers – no audition is required.
