BCMCS Choral

The Choral Section has been an integral part of BCMCS. since its formation in 1973. We have built up an excellent reputation in Bolton for our performances of many classic choral works.

These include Beethoven`s Missa solemnis, Elgar`s Dream of Gerontius, Handel`s Messiah and Verdi`s Requiem and most recently Carmen, performed at the beautiful Victoria Halls in Bolton.

The society has a great working relationship with other choirs, orchestras and musical ensembles, having performed with Bolton Symphony Orchestra, Corus Brass, Bolton Choral Union, Bolton Music Service and The Brixi Singers.

We perform one or two concerts each year usually at Bolton`s Victoria Hall or Bolton Parish Church.

The Musical Director for the choir is appointed on a yearly basis. Carolyn Baxendale has just conducted Carmen. Our next performance is scheduled for 11th May 2024 is titled ‘A New Day’ and includes music by Vaughan Williams, Smyth, Boulanger and finishes with Beethoven’s glorious Symphony No.9.

There are at present around 50 choral members and we welcome any new members who would like to join. Membership fees are £40.

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings – 7.30p.m. – 9.30p.m. at Bolton Parish Church hall.

I am delighted to tell you that Carolyn will receive the award of Honorary Member of The Royal Northern College of Music at the college’s graduation ceremony today for her outstanding achievements in music and education.  There is more information about this if you navigate to the RNCM webpages using their link below:
